“Bedtime!” my mom calls out. My brother and I race upstairs. After brushing our teeth, we went to bed. I was just drifting to sleep when there was a thud. I opened my eyes to find out that I’m in a different room. I look around me to find a tiny figure that looked like a gnome staring right back at me. Suddenly, it started talking “Well, let me introduce myself, I’m Leader Gnome and also the king of The Maze.” “Well, that’s great, but how do I get back home?”
“Oh, that’s easy just get through The Maze.” Then he pointed in a direction in which the maze was supposedly supposed to be. I looked shellshocked. “There’s no maze in the direction your pointing!” “Oh, yeah humans can’t see it.” “What?” He didn’t answer me. I realized that this is not making any progress into getting myself home so I started a journey which I hoped will end. As I was making my way which I thought was the entrance to The Maze, the tiny gnome called out “Oh, yeah watch out for the trolls and goblins. That’s why it took me twenty years to get out of that maze!” “Twenty years!” I thought to myself. I didn’t think about the trolls and the goblins because everyone knows that they are not real. The starting of the journey was harsh and cruel because I kept bumping into walls. After a few minutes which seemed like hours I found out a way to feel where a new wall, was coming, but still, the cruelty did not end. It was horrible and frightening to be in the maze all by myself, plus I didn’t even know where I was going. After a few hours which felt like days, I felt a big space between the walls “It’s an exit, I can finally return home!” Unfortunately, as I left the maze the big area had the same stool the gnome was sitting on, on the stool was a note that read “I was too scared to be here all alone by myself because the troll or goblin may come and get me. Signed, Leader Gnome.” I was just placing the note on the stool when I felt a cold hand on my shoulder. I turned over to see and was surprised to see something that seemed to resemble a goblin and a troll. “She’s my prisoner.” said the troll. “I saw her first!” replied the goblin. “Fine, let’s settle this in court.” yelled the troll. Then they turned to me as if I were supposed to know what to do. “Follow us to court.” They went into The Maze expecting me to follow. I followed them without knowing what to do. I still had trouble following them, but as I went along with them, they led to a brown door which I didn’t see before in my first journey around The Maze. While I entered, I heard “Meow, meow,” Then the goblin seemed to reply “Meow, meow,” Just then I realized this was cat court. The judge was a kitten and the witnesses were cats, even though I don’t remember seeing any of them. After a long time of meows and mayhem, I planned my escape. When no one was watching I quietly went out the door. After a few seconds, the goblin called out “Get her!” As I raced out the door everyone was following me and on top of that I kept on bumping into the walls. Then I opened my eyes and realized this was all a dream. I thought to myself “Well, that was an interesting dream.” *This story is fictional and did not happen, it’s just for fun, I chose this as a writing prompt!
Yes, but actually yes.
Love it. Alice in Wonderland meets Labyrinth.
P.S. If you haven’t seen the movie Labyrinth, you must!
